What Tools and Or Skills Do I Need to Become an Online Marketer?

Probably one of the most frequent questions people need to ask about becoming an online marketer is, what tools and or skills do I need to become an online marketer? To really get started you need a few basic items,

• Computer
• Internet Service
• Telephone preferably cell but not necessary
• Time to market

Lets go over each one.

Computer: It really doesn’t matter desktop or laptop. Whichever you are more comfortable with, Right now I have a laptop hooked up to a separate monitor, wireless keyboard, and mouse. That way it is set up on my desk to use every day, but also in less than a minute or two I can have it in its case to take with me with me when I travel or to use at any wi-fi hotspot.

Internet service: Obviously if you plan on working on the internet you are going to need internet service. I recommend the fastest service you can get in your particular area.

Telephone: You will be spending quite a bit of time on your phone. I am old fashioned I won’t give up my land line. A good speakerphone and a high quality headset are some very useful add-ons. I also recommend a cell phone with an unlimited plan if you can get it. Again a high quality headset is a nice add-on.

Time to market: Most online marketers, not all, have to start part time. You have to allow yourself enough time to properly work your business. This can be particularly challenging for people with families. You have to remember it is your business, and only you can be responsible for it’s success.

Skills for online marketing are another story. Unlike the tools you can’t go down to the local office supply store and buy them. There are many good courses in online marketing available. In addition once you start online marketing you need to continually update your skill set, by constantly reading, and watching videos, and attending webinars. If you have hooked up with a good education source they will probably overwhelm you in the beginning with all the help available through the back office. Additionally there are hundreds of traffic formulas, video training courses, etc. etc. available.

To wrap it up when starting out be very cautious about your spending on equipment and training courses. There are so many good products available you can find yourself breaking the bank before you even have created a lead. This only leads to frustration, and disenchantment. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. To your ultimate success!
